The frame
before the work.

FRMWRK INC. is a small studio that builds operating frameworks for product teams — systems architecture, design systems, front-end engineering, and the documentation that holds all of it together.

01 Framework

A frame, before the work.

What we build, and what we do not.

Most product teams do not fail because they are not talented. They fail because there is no frame around the work — no shared language, no components, no documentation, no agreed way to add the next thing without breaking the last. We build the frame.

FRMWRK INC. is a small studio based in Vaughan. We work with a limited number of product teams at a time on the parts of software that make the rest of the software possible: the architecture, the design system, the front-end foundation, and the written rules that keep all three consistent as the team grows.

We are not an agency, not a dev shop, and not a design studio that also codes. We are three disciplines joined at the seam — systems, design, and engineering — and our work is the seam itself. The output is not a deck. It is a working system: a repository, a component library, a governance model, and a technical document that outlives the engagement.

We take on three to five teams a year. We do not staff augment. We do not do fixed-scope sprints. We do not start work until we have been given enough access to understand how the team actually works, not how it says it works.

02 The Work

Four spans, one frame.

Where our engagements concentrate.
Span · 01 Systems

Systems Architecture

Technical architecture for products that need to last. Service boundaries, data ownership, deployment topology, and the decisions that are difficult to change later. We design for the team that will maintain it in year three, not the demo in week two.

Architecture Doc ADR Set Data Model Deployment Topology
Span · 02 Design

Design Systems

Component libraries, tokens, and design governance that survive contact with production. Built in the browser alongside the team, documented as a system rather than a gallery, and versioned so that adding a new component does not quietly break six existing ones.

Span · 03 Engineering

Front-End Engineering

The foundation layer for web products — framework selection, build tooling, routing patterns, error boundaries, and the first twelve components the rest of the product will be built from. We write the code the internal team will read for the next two years.

Span · 04 Governance

Documentation & Governance

The written material that keeps the frame intact after we leave: contribution rules, RFC process, ownership boundaries, and a technical handbook that reads like a manual rather than an afterthought. Documentation is a deliverable, not a courtesy.

03 Method

How we build.

Four rules we do not negotiate.
01

The seams come first

Most failures in software show up at the seams — between services, between teams, between the design system and the product that uses it. We start there. If the seams are not right, nothing built on top of them will be.

02

One source of truth

Every artifact we produce has a single home. Tokens live in one file. Components live in one repo. Rules live in one handbook. Duplication is not a time-saver — it is a future argument that has not happened yet.

03

Ship with the manual

We do not consider a system delivered until the documentation is as complete as the code. A frame that cannot be understood by the next engineer is not a frame — it is a debt. Everything we hand over is meant to be read.

04

Small surfaces, deep foundations

We work on a small number of teams at a time, on the parts of the product that are hardest to change later. We do not scale horizontally. We go deeper with fewer teams, and we finish the work we start.
